Tools you'll need

Solid fuel

Hardwood kindling like our Ooni Premium Hardwood 5″ Oak Logs and/or Ooni Premium Lumpwood Charcoal. We often use a combination of both.

Check that your baking stone is at least 750 °F / 400 °C before cooking.

Ooni Karu 12G cannot be used with solid fuels and gas simultaneously.

Dough making tools

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Dough mixer (optional)
  • Digital scale (strongly encouraged)
  • Teaspoon (if no scale)
  • Liquid measuring cup (if no scale)
  • Dry measuring cup (if no scale)
  • Cling film / Damp towel
  • Dough tray / Baking tray

Ingredients you'll need


  • Tap water
  • Salt
  • Fresh, dried or instant yeast
  • “00” (preferred) or bread flour


  • Canned San Marzano (preferred) or other plum tomatoes
  • Salt


  • Mozzarella ball (approx 100g)
  • Fresh basil
  • Olive oil
