Rich and Spicy Belazu Ve-Du-Ya (Vegan ‘Nduja) Pizza

Vegan or not, this pizza is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Packed with bold flavors and spice, this pie is anything but ordinary – the Belazu Ve-Du-Ya (vegan ‘nduja) paste makes up the base of the tomato sauce which adds a lovely sweetness, combined with the incredible cheese alternative, Mozzarisella Classic, and salty, tangy Perelló olives all make for a tasty, vegan-forward stunner.

Along with using fresh, high-quality ingredients, taking the time to make the pizza sauce (instead of buying pre-made sauce) will transform this (and any) pizza. This is one of the reasons why we love using San Marzano tomatoes – their bold, bright flavor adds to the authentic Italian cooking experience, plus, they have less acidity than other tomatoes, making them the perfect complement with the Ve-Du-Ya paste.

While most vegans and vegetarians won’t be familiar with the taste of ‘nduja – a spicy, spreadable pork sausage from Calabria in Southern Italy – the vegan version from Belazu emulates the traditional paste without sacrificing taste, including its bold heat.

Note

This recipe works well with a variety of pizza styles, but we think that our sourdough, neo-Neapolitan or classic pizza dough suits this particular pie best. Make sure to prepare your dough ahead of time to give it enough time (about 3 to 4 hours before cooking) to rise at room temperature before firing up your oven.
