Renaming Our Products: What It Means for You
It's been an incredible 14 years since we launched our first Ooni (then Uuni!) oven, sparking a global movement in portable pizza ovens. As our community has grown, so has our range of ovens, with each year bringing new milestones in product materials, airflow technology, fuel efficiency, sustainability, user experience, and connectivity.
We're introducing a new naming convention for our ovens to make our product lineup more intuitive and accessible for both new and loyal customers.
What’s Changing?
Starting right now, we’re transitioning to a simplified naming structure that reflects our ovens' features and generations.
Old Name → New Name
- Ooni Karu 12G Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven → Ooni Karu 2
What Does the New Naming Structure Mean
Previously, our oven names indicated the size of pizza they could cook (e.g., Koda 12 for a 12” pizza). The new naming convention includes:
- Generation Number: A number (e.g., Karu 2) indicating the product’s generation.
- Qualifier: Words like Pro or Max to denote the level of size and technology sophistication. The base model won’t have a qualifier, while more advanced models will.
We’re also updating accessory names to make it easier to match them with the correct oven.
Old Name → New Name
- Karu 12G Gas Burner → Gas Burner for Ooni Karu 12, Karu 12G, and Karu 2
- Karu 12 Cover → Carry Cover for Ooni Karu 12, Karu 12G, and Karu 2
Questions & Answers
Q: I’ve ordered a Karu 12G oven and received a Karu 2 box. Did I get the wrong product?
A: No worries! Karu 12G and Karu 2 are the same oven. You’ve simply received our updated packaging.
Q: I ordered a Karu 2 but got a Karu 12G box. Did I get the wrong product?
A: You’ve got the right oven! Karu 12G and Karu 2 are identical. Your box just has the previous packaging.
Q: I’m trying to register my Karu 12G oven, but it’s not listed. What should I do?
A: Register it as Karu 2. Even if your box says Karu 12G, we’re transitioning to the new name.
Q: Do I need to update my product registration if I registered an oven with the old name?
A: No action needed! Our system and support team have you covered.
